Pet Safety in Winter Weather for Union City Residents
2/23/2020 (Permalink)
Although most of us are aching for warmer temperatures, Spring is not yet upon us. Appropriate measures should be taken to ensure the safety of our pets in frigid temperatures. Just as we take care of our animals in sweltering conditions, we should also watch out for them in the extreme elements. Here are a few tips to keep in mind during the winter time. Your pet will thank you for it!
- Tip #1: Bring your pet inside! Pets can succumb to hypothermia just like human beings.
- Tip #2: Likewise, don’t leave your animal in a cold car as it can act as a refrigerator.
- Tip #3: Check the hood of your car for cats. They are known to try and seek warmth in your car engine.
- Tip #4: If your pet loves to play in the snow, be sure to check for ice, salt, and snow that may be stuck in its paws. This can be very painful.
