Straight-Line Winds

3/3/2022 (Permalink)

Recently, parts of West Tennessee were hit hard by several different types of storms. Within two weeks, our area saw several thunderstorms, severe flooding, freezing rain, icy roads, and was under a tornado watch on multiple occasions. However, the last storm that passed through was different!

The primary concern during this particular storm was the straight-line winds that swept through at over 60 mph. A few weeks prior, this area went through intense rainfall that was followed by a sudden freeze. Branches were already weak after enduring the weight from all of the ice, so as these racing winds blew through, many trees could not handle the force of the wind and were knocked down. Fallen power lines covered the roads, and tree limbs covered yards. Many people were without power, experienced water leaks caused by roof damage, and flood damage caused by the intense rain.

SERVPRO of Dyersburg/Union City was on call and equipped to handle the intense wind! With our 24-hour emergency services, we responded to several water losses caused by flash flooding and frozen pipes. We are “Faster to any size disaster,” and are always “Here to help.”
