Staying Safe in the Aftermath of a Storm

Like it or not, tornado season is nearly upon us! We want you to be prepared if the unexpected happens.  While there is loss of life that occurs during a storm, many lives are also lost in the aftermath of a storm. Here’s a few tips on how to stay safe after the storm passes.

• Tip #1: Tornadoes often strike when you least expect it. Be sure you have a designated meeting place to reconnect with loved ones in case you get separated during the storm.
• Tip #2: Be sure to keep your driver’s license or some kind of photo identification on you. This will make it easier to access your home through security checkpoints that are often established in the harder hit areas.
• Tip #3: Always keep your shoes on. Tornadoes leave bent pieces of metal, screws and many other debris that could easily cut you. Try to keep your shoes on in the aftermath.
